A trip to the dark side

For a good number of years now I’ve worked in the 3rd sector, which seems to be a collective noun for charitable and voluntary and possibly general not for profit organisations.

I’ve just spent a week on the dark side – back in the 1st sector, that bunch of people who make the money that is ploughed into the economy in various forms and which ultimately allows the 3rd sector to exist.

And I enjoyed it.  Back amongst the technology with which I spent most of my adult life, and realising that most of the stuff I worked on is obsolete after only 5 years or so.  The new stuff is absolutely whizzy, and gobsmackingly fast.  I love it.

And I got to spend most of a week in Italy at someone else’s expense and that’s never a bad thing.

Now, back to reality
